Hi Liz, I dont have any experience of your circumstances but I just wanted to mention very little known and rarely use option for advice - McKenzie Friends are people who will often advise on a veriety of issues free of charge or for a much smaller charge than a solicitor would, they can also accompany you in court if you decided to represent yourself I used them before and the help was great - I got much better advice than from my solicitor who by the way is no longer hired You can search for names on the web. There is also quite a good website with info on leave to remain. Not sure if allowed to post here but will put anyway www.thecustodyminefield.com
Take care for now Magdalena
