Custody Battle With Greek Cypriot Husband

by Lisa / Posted 06/02/2010 / Updated 06/02/2010

Im posting this on behalf of a friend who is in Cyrpus (Greek side) and doesnt have internet access.

She is married to her husband and had a daughter with him. They seperated two years ago due to his violent ways and she tried to report him to the police but they simply called him and he came to the police station and dragged her away by her hair so she gave up trying to get anything done and found the courage to leave him.

To cut long bits out she is now at the stage where things are finally going to counrt for the divorce and custody of the little girl. She is suffering financially and wants to come back to the UK as she could return to work and support her daughter and basically live in peace. What she wants to know is if she gets a flight back and leaves a letter with her solicitor telling hubby she has returned to the UK and leaves her Uk address in the letter (her parents and he knows this is where she would be) then would she be breaking any laws??? She hopes that by letting him know where they will be residing that will be enough as its not like they are running off into thin air.

If she could afford to live where she is she would happily stay but there is no work and she is a grown woman living off handouts from family in the UK and its no way to live.

Thanks in advance for any help
