Call to end Scottish criminal law loophole

We are supporting the call to bring Scottish criminal law in line with the rest of the UK to better protect children at risk of international parental child abduction.

Unlike the rest of the UK international parental child abduction is not a criminal offence in Scotland, unless the abducting parent is breaching a pre-existing court order. As a result there is very little the police can do to prevent children being abducted from the country, and so children in Scotland are more vulnerable to the harmful effects of international parental child abduction.
We are pleased to support Yousif Ahmed, a Scottish lawyer, in his campaign for the Scottish government to redress this anomaly so that children in Scotland are granted the same protection as children in the rest of the UK.

Our CEO and Mr Ahmed have spoken to the Scottish Express to highlight concerns for the current law, and you can read the article here.
