International Parental Child Abduction: Moving Forward in the Commonwealth
On Wednesday evening we held our first seminar of the year for lawyers and professionals entitled ‘International Parental Child Abduction: Moving Forward in the Commonwealth’.
Through the work we undertake on the advice line we know that Commonwealth countries, including India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand and Nigeria, are common destination countries for children abducted from the UK. The evening allowed us to examine and discuss issues around parental child abduction involving Commonwealth countries, and also look forward to positive developments in the future.
We would like to thank our speakers Margaret Casey QC from New Zealand and Maja Groff from the Hague Permanent Bureau who gave their time to share their knowledge and experience with us. We would also like to thank Clare Renton and the staff of 29 Bedford Row for their support and host the seminar in their newly redecorated room.
