Relocation Research is launched
A reception was held last night at 29 Bedford Row to launch reunite´s research into the issue of relocation and contact between non-resident parents and their children.
The research, funded by the Ministry of Justice, was born out of the increase in the number of calls to our advice line from ´left-behind´ parents who experience difficulty maintaining contact with their children following one parent´s successful application for leave to remove the child to a foreign jurisdiction. This is a major concern to us as clearly it will have a negative effect on the child and also is in breach of the UN Convention on the rights of the child and our own domestic law which encourages both parents to take an active role in a child´s life.
