reunite and the British Embassy in Seoul host child abduction seminar
On 29th November reunite, in partnership with the British Embassy in Seoul, held a training seminar for Korean lawyers and practitioners on child abduction and the 1980 Hague convention.
The main objective of the seminar was to increase knowledge and experience amongst such professionals in an effort to secure the best possible outcomes for the children involved in 1980 Hague cases.
We were honoured to have been joined by specialist, highly experienced speakers from across the world, including Anselmo Reyes of the Hague Permanent Bureau, Judge Kim and Professor Suk from Korea, the Korean Central Authority, Justice Bennett from Australia, John Mellor of CAFCASS, Anne-Marie Hutchinson and our own Alison Shalaby. The speakers covered a wide range of topics from the nuts and bolts of the Convention its self to hearing the voice of the child and the possibility of mediation. We were joined by over 30 delegates, many of who were lawyers practicing in the field of family law.
We are hugely grateful for the hard work and support of the team at the British Embassy in Seoul, and hope that through this seminar more professionals in Korea better understand the workings of the 1980 Hague Convention, and so can ensure that such cases are dealt with swiftly and accurately.
