reunite to travel to Lebanon for workshop on child abduction and custody matters
reunite´s Acting Director, Alison Shalaby, and Chair, Anne-Marie Hutchinson, will be travelling to Lebanon in November to join consular officers from across the Foreign & Commonwealth´s Middle East Network for a 2 day workshop on child abduction and custody matters.
The workshop will be hosted by the Consular Section of the British Embassy, Beirut, and will bring together consular officers from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Syria, Bahrain, Oman, Israel and Jordan, as well as participants from further afield such as Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, India and Pakistan.
We will also be joined by representatives from the US, Danish, Australian and Canadian Embassies in Beirut, as well as government departments, lawyers and non-governmental organisations.
Alison Shalaby, Acting Director, says "The workshop will provide us with an opportunity to share knowledge and good practice and consider how best we can support families affected by child abduction and custody disputes. We will also be exploring a range of initiatives that we can take forward together to assist in resolving these difficult and distressing cases."
