Advice Line
Telephone: +44 (0) 1162 556 234
We offer the only UK based telephone advice line specialising in international parental child abduction and the movement of children across international borders.
The advice line is here to offer you advice, information and support concerning all issues related to international parental child abduction, prevention of abduction, international contact issues, and cases of permission to remove a child from the jurisdiction. We offer impartial advice to parents, guardians, and family members, and can help you whether you are a parent whose child has been abducted, a parent who is defending a charge of child abduction, you fear parental abduction, or you are concerned about your children maintaining contact with both parents and extended family across international borders.
Every call to the advice line is treated with the utmost confidentialty, and we do not pass judgement on the actions or circumstances of individuals. We appreciate that every case is different and unique, and therefore tailor our advice to your individual circumstances.
You can contact us Monday to Friday, between 9.30am and 5.00pm. If you have an emergency situation outside of these times call the advice line and you will be directed to our 24hr emergency service.
When calling the advice line it will help us if you have some of the following information to hand. However, please do not worry if you don’t have any of this information, we will still be able to help you.
- If you have appointed a solicitor to act for you, their name and contact details
- Details any of court orders already in place
- If you are already involved in court proceedings the dates of any future hearings
The advice line is staffed by five members of staff who are Alefiyah, Anika, Joanne, Nicci and Sharon. We also have two volunteers, Tim and Yvette who give generously of their free time to work on the advice line.
We understand that as a parent trying to understand the complexity of the legal system surrounding parental child abduction you can feel overwhelmed, and very much alone, dealing with a situation most parents have never heard of. However, during 2008 we answered over 7,400 calls from parents going through a similar situation to you. So if you need help please don’t hesitate to call us.
Please note that we are not able to give any advice by email.
