International Parental Child Abduction Country Guides

When a child is wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained overseas it creates a great deal of uncertainty for the parents having to decide what to do next. Having access to relevant information can help parents and family members feel reassured and equipped to move forward. We have taken our experience from working with parents, lawyers and other organisations over the last 30 years to create a series of Child Abduction Country Guides.

This series of Guides will give you an overview on how child abduction cases to each country are generally handled. Information includes what legal routes are available for seeking the return of a child, general guidelines on timescales and costs, mediation and other useful contacts and information.

These Guides are by no means conclusive. Every case is different and there is no such thing as a typical case, so if you are involved in an abduction case please do contact our advice line for ongoing advice, information and support.
